Acing
Your Interview - Top Ten Tips! |
The interview is really where "the rubber meets
the road." This is where you must show your prospective employer
you are the best candidate for the court reporter job. So, how do you
ensure you "make the grade," rather than "fail the class." Preparation!
Successful interviewing is essential in order to
lock in an offer and land the court reporter job you want. Following are
my top ten tips to help you prepare to ace your interview and land the court
reporter job you want.
-
Research. Gathering background information on employers is
crucial to a successful interview. You must be prepared to
answer the questions, "What do you know about our company?"
and "Why do you want to work here?" Before the
interview, review the company's website or call to request
company literature.
-
Practice. Have you every heard the saying, "Practice makes perfect?"
Well, it couldn't be more true, when it comes to
interviewing. Spend some time with a friend practicing your
responses to potential questions. Record or videotape your
responses, so you can replay the interview and see how well
you did.
-
Dress for Success. Your cloths are your
image. Check the
mirror and see what others see. It is better to be
overdressed than underdressed. If it's too tight or too
lose, don't wear it. Remember the old adage, "You never get
a second chance to make a first impression."
-
Brag Book. Prepare a book that highlights
your previous
accomplishments. This is a great way to draw attention to
any particularly outstanding achievements. Be sure to
include those items that demonstrate your capabilities and
the benefits you can offer your prospective employer.
-
Ask Questions. Think of questions you would
like to ask the
interviewer. Remember, you are not simply trying to get the
job. You are also interviewing the employer to assess
whether the company and the position are a good fit for you.
-
Be Prompt. It goes without saying, you
should be on time for
your interview. And, "on time" means ten to fifteen minutes
early. You may even want to drive by the office ahead of
time, so you know exactly where you will be going and how
long it takes to get there.
-
Be Personable. Know the interviewer's name
and use it,
during the interview. People love to hear their own name.
-
Be Calm. If you are not sure about a
particular question,
ask for clarification. And, don't be afraid to take a moment
to frame your responses, so you can be sure to fully answer
the questions.
-
Ask For The Job. Thank the interviewer for
his time and
reiterate your interest in the position. Tell him how much
you want the job.
-
Follow Up. Send a follow up letter to the
interviewer.
Express your appreciation for the opportunity to meet him
and discuss the position. Briefly mention the benefits you
can bring to the company. Ask for the job!

How to Increase Your
Business With a
High Traffic Website! |
There is no disputing it. The Internet is the most powerful
marketing vehicle, since direct mail. In the years to come,
court reporters and court reporting agencies that are not "net
savvy" will struggle to keep up with those that have already
embraced this incredible technology.
As I contact court reporters and court reporting agencies, I am
continually amazed at how few fully utilize the power of the
Internet to build their businesses. Most court reporters and court
reporting agencies
don't even have a website. Many of those that do often only have
a one page site that does nothing more than give an address and a
phone number. Still others have nice sites, but they don't get
any traffic (visitors). What good is a website that no one sees?
Yet, there are a few court reporters and court reporting agencies that have "seen
the light." They have terrific websites that attract new clients
and allow them to sell more services and expand into new product
offerings. Naturally, this all translates into a fatter bottom
line! And, who doesn't want that?
So, how do you launch yourself into the digital revolution, if
you are not a techno-geek and you don't have loads of extra cash
to hire one? Fortunately, there is a simple solution. But,
before I tell you about it, I want to explain the 5 key
components of a winning website.
-
Easy to Build. Developing a top notch
website should not
require a brain-load of specialized "web knowledge." It
should be as easy as typing on a word processor... or a maybe a steno machine.

-
Maintenance Free. You shouldn't have
to spend exorbitant
amounts of time making sure your website is operating
properly. And, it shouldn't require a techie to keep it
running. Your website should enhance your business, not keep
you away from the business of your business.
-
Low Cost. Your website shouldn't cost
an arm and a leg to
build or maintain. It should be low priced, but still include all the
"bells and whistles" of a high-dollar site.
-
Credible. Your website must have its
own domain. If you
host your site with a free hosting service, you are shooting
yourself in the foot. You must project a successful image to
attract and maintain the best clients and having your own
domain is an integral part of that image.
-
Traffic. Your website must have a
means of attracting
targeted traffic... prospective clients that are interested
in your services. And, the system for attracting traffic
must be built-in to the site. It must be automatic!
So, the obvious question is... "Where can you find all these benefits
wrapped up in one complete package?" Is there such an easy to
use, low cost, income generating website system available? Well,
actually, yes, there is!
The best website solution for 99% of all small to medium size
businesses is

essential elements of a successful website into one complete,
easy to use, low cost package. Actually, the full benefits go
