"Secret Recipe" to Dynamite Cover Letters

Your cover letter must be concise and get right to the point... just like I'm doing right now!   Think of your cover letter as an advertisement for you and your resume. It is your "superstar salesman"... or, at least it should be.

Having reviewed hundreds of cover letters and resumes, I can tell you that a poorly written cover letter is death to your chances of getting an interview.  In fact, the hiring manager probably won't even bother to look at your resume, if your cover letter doesn't grab his attention immediately.

Here are the 7 ingredients of a killer cover letter.

  1. Address your cover letter to a real person. "To Whom It May Concern" just doesn't cut it. Take a little extra time to call the company and ask for the name of the hiring manager.  Address your letter to him or her.

  2. Open with an attention grabbing sentence.

  3. Remember, less is more! The best cover letters are "short and sweet." Your cover letter should be clear, brief and laser focused.

  4. Concentrate on what you can do for the employer.  Do a little research to find out more about the company and the position you would like to fill.  Craft your cover letter in such a way that highlights the benefits the company will enjoy, when they hire you.

  5. Use action words that show enthusiasm and passion for the position you seek. Hundreds are listed in the Court Reporter Job Guide.

  6. Ask for the interview! This may seem obvious, but you would be surprised how many cover letters don't include a "call to action."

  7. Use a "P.S." to restate your best selling point. Often, the "P.S." is the first thing people read. Make it strong!

And, there you have it. If you will include these 7 ingredients of the "secret recipe" for creating an amazing cover letter, you will get as many interviews as you want.

Speaking of "amazing cover letters," I recently ran across a great tool that will virtually write your cover letter for you.  It follows a step-by-step process that has been scientifically proven to land the most interviews.

I've tried this product myself and can't say enough good things about it. If you want to craft a "killer" cover letter, or you want to breathe new life into your old cover letter, you owe it to yourself to take a look at this amazing tool today.

How to Buy a Steno Machine for Peanuts!

Okay, I know you've been waiting for this one.   For the last few newsletters, I've been "teasing" you with this headline.  I'm sure you've been wondering, "Where can I buy a steno machine for peanuts?"  Well, the answer may surprise you.

Can you spell "E-b-a-y?"  Yep, that's it.  If you haven't already checked out Ebay, for incredible deals on "new" and used steno machines, you've been missing the boat.  I say "new" because I have seen steno machines auctioned on Ebay that have virtually
never been used.

You can buy everything from basic student models to the newest, most sophisticated machines available.  I'm not kidding!  Some of the deals are absolutely amazing!

As I'm writing this newsletter, there are more than fifty auctions for steno machines running on Ebay. The prices on the current auctions range from $1.00 to $2,900.00. And, the steno machine that is currently up for auction at $1.00 is no piece of junk either.

It's a computerized model that comes with a hard-side carrying case, rechargeable battery, AC adapter, deluxe tripod and more! The final sale price will undoubtedly be more than $1.00, but hey, it's bound to be a pretty good deal.

And, if you have been thinking about upgrading, but you've already got a pretty hefty investment in your current machine, you should definitely consider selling your old machine on Ebay.  A cleverly designed auction can bring in nearly as much as the
original price you paid for your current steno machine.

Now, that may seem like I just contradicted myself (i.e. you can get great deals vs. you can get top dollar), but if you know anything about the way online auctions work, you know I didn't goof up.  You see, getting great deals on Ebay, whether you are a
bidder or a seller, is all about timing.  If you are a bidder, you simply have to decide what you want, establish your price, place your bid and wait to see if you win.

If your price is anywhere in the ball park, you will eventually get what you want. You may not get the first machine you bid on.  However, if you are patient, it won't be long before you are able to snag a great deal.  If you want to learn more about buying and
selling on Ebay, I've written a special FREE insider report, with all the details.

Since you will want to keep an eye on the best deals, I have built a very cool Ebay monitoring tool right into the Court Reporter Job Guide. In the section entitled "Choosing the Right Stenograph Machine," I include a dynamically updated table that
contains the very best deals on steno machines available on Ebay.

The information included in the table is literally updated every minute, right inside the eBook. The table includes a description of each steno machine currently up for auction on Ebay, the current bid, the number of bids and the time remaining in the auction. It's all there, right at your finger tips. If you want more details, just click the link and presto, bingo a new browser window pops up, with complete details about the steno machine.  All you have to do is decide whether you want to place a bid.

This innovative tool could save (or make) you literally thousands of dollars on the purchase or sale of your steno machine. That alone is reason enough to pick up your own copy of The Court Reporter Job Guide today.
