I am very new to all of this. I haven't even gone to school for court reporting. And that's what I need advice with: which online school should I be interested in? I say online because I haven't found any court reporting schools near me--besides, I work full-time. Any ideas out there?

The Court Reporter Job Guide includes an updated list of court reporting schools, training programs and home study courses.  Alternatively, you can check out the listings of court reporting schools in my resources directory, www.courtreporterjob.com/schools.htm.  However, that list is by no means comprehensive.

Some time ago, I wrote an article for my court reporter newsletter about some of the things you should consider, when selecting a court reporting school, www.courtreporterjob.com/newsletter-schools.htm.  It has some important questions you should ask any court reporter school you consider attending.  I hope the article will help point you in the right direction.

Right now I'm a student at Green River Community College in Auburn, WA, but you can take classes online through that school. I'd recommend going to the National Court Reporters Association website and looking for an accredited school.
